<title>Exploring New Aesthetic Dimensions through Artificial Intelligence in the Changing Scenario</title>
<link>http://repository.lib.vpa.ac.lk/handle/123456789/2522</link>
<description>Exploring New Aesthetic Dimensions through Artificial Intelligence in the Changing Scenario
Wickramasinghe, A
By challenging traditional notions of authorship, originality, and innovation, the integration of artificial &#13;
intelligence (AI) into the visual and performing arts has revolutionized artistic production. This paper's goal &#13;
is to determine how various AI models contribute to new aesthetic dimensions in art. The literature in the &#13;
subject area was carefully examined to gain a comprehensive grasp of how AI has been incorporated into &#13;
the development of artistic achievements in the field. A qualitative research approach, drawing on content &#13;
analysis and theoretical frameworks was used to analyze existing literature, identify prominent AI models, &#13;
and evaluate their impact on creative expression. Originality, creativity, and emotional depth are still the &#13;
main points of contention in the debate about AI's role in the arts. In order to evaluate technical complexity, &#13;
emotional impact, originality, ingenuity, and aesthetic appeal, this study examines the relevant literature. &#13;
The review reveals that while AI demonstrates strong technical proficiency and can generate visually &#13;
compelling and stylistically diverse artworks, it remains limited in emotional intuition, cultural depth, and &#13;
lived human experience. Although AI can simulate artistic styles and recombine patterns in novel ways, it &#13;
lacks the intentionality and subjective motivations that shape human creativity. Further it lacks the feelings, &#13;
life experiences, and innate desire that define human artwork. Despite these limitations, AI is not a &#13;
replacement for human creativity but rather a continuation of artistic potential. It allows artists to &#13;
experiment with new styles, automate processes, and explore hybrid artistic forms as a collaborative tool. &#13;
The results of the study indicate that artificial intelligence will continue to impact the visual and performing &#13;
arts in the future by promoting cooperation between human artists and intelligent computers by introducing &#13;
new aesthetic dimensions to the field of art.

<title>Issues and theories behind the conservation of two-dimensional (2D) artifacts in Sri Lanka using digital technology</title>

<description>Issues and theories behind the conservation of two-dimensional (2D) artifacts in Sri Lanka using digital technology
Wickramasinghe, WAP; Jayasiri, A
Conservation of cultural heritage is an area of science that describes how to preserve various &#13;
products of art, architecture and other cultural works. There are different types of valuable artworks &#13;
required for conservation in Colombo Museum and some historical temples in Sri Lanka. The aim &#13;
of this paper is to identify issues and theories behind the conservation of 2D artefact in Sri Lanka &#13;
using digital technology. As the research methodology, a survey, a case study of digital photos of &#13;
Bellanwila Temple taken by Lal Hegoda and interviews were used to identify the process, issues &#13;
and techniques applied for conserving 2D artifacts through digitization. In literature search and &#13;
analysis, image stitching technique was identified as one of the main technologies used in this area &#13;
and it was well studied in different perspectives in this research. Further, it was able to identify &#13;
two main approaches for image stitching as feature based method and direct method by reviewing &#13;
several research papers in the area of image stitching. Further, it was identified steps applied for &#13;
the process of developing a panoramic image. Furthermore, several feature based techniques were &#13;
identified for different types of applications in the subject area with the details of their inherent &#13;
features and limitations. In this paper, findings of the literature review and the results of the above &#13;
research methods are discussed in different directions with the identification of issues and theories &#13;
behind the conservation of two dimensional (2D) artifacts in Sri Lanka using digital technology.

<title>Statistical Model for the Quality of Panoramic Images of Mural Paintings</title>
<link>http://repository.lib.vpa.ac.lk/handle/123456789/2520</link>
<description>Statistical Model for the Quality of Panoramic Images of Mural Paintings
Wickramasinghe, WAP; Jayasiri, A
Panoramic image creation is crucial in area of digital imaging. It is developed by combining an overlapped &#13;
image component series of a large image, which is difficult to be focused on using a normal camera due to &#13;
a large field of view. Measuring the quality of panoramic images is a challenging task. Therefore, the &#13;
objectives of this research are to find the attributes of visual quality of panoramic images and to propose &#13;
predictor variables for a statistical model for the quality of panoramic images of mural paintings. Authors &#13;
have used a proposed novel method for creating panoramic images of mural painting. In this study, authors &#13;
researched on the quality attributes of digital images. Accordingly, color balance, noise and distortion were &#13;
identified as the two most critical factors which affect the overall quality of the panoramic images. Authors &#13;
visited three temples and captured digital images of mural paintings of large scale using a simple method. &#13;
Then, panoramic images were created using three methods: the novel method with other two methods, &#13;
Photoshop (available in the market) and Hugin (open source software). Subjective evaluation was applied &#13;
through experts in the field of Visual Arts. Participants were asked to rate the quality using four-point &#13;
Likert scale for color balance, noise and distortion as predictor variables and overall quality as the response &#13;
variable of panoramic images. Ordinal logistic regression was fitted through Minitab statistical package &#13;
and the results showed that color balance and noise and distortion are two important attributes for the &#13;
quality of the panoramic images. Moreover, the collected data fit the model at a higher accuracy.
